The Swim course consists of four parts:
- Upstream for 900m (to Turn 1)
- Downstream for 600m (to Turn 2)
- Upstream for 600m (to Turn 3)
- Downstream for 900m (to Finish)

The Cycle course is to the South of Athy along closed sections of the R417 and R418. Double Olympic participants must complete 2 Laps of the 40km course shown. There are fast sections along the main roads, with more technical cornering and racing on the linking roads. There is a turnaround circle at Athy which is looped at the end of Lap 1.

The Run Course involves 3 full laps of a 4.83km circuit to the South of Athy followed by a partial 4th lap of 5.5km which diverts across the River Barrow towards the Finishing area. About 60% of the course is on paved road, and 40% is on riverside track.
